Misia Sert, celebrated as the Queen of Paris, was the muse to the Parisian avant garde in the 1890s, and again, in the 1910s.

Born to unwed mothers, both Suzanne Valadon and Kiki de Montparnasse arrived in Paris as girls and made their way against the odds.
